Welcome to Deep Dive!
So much about change being constant has been drilled into our mind that we are always busy adapting. On the contrary Jeff Bezos says that he built his colossal business empire by focusing on what will not change – people wanting to buy at the lowest cost, their need for vast selection, and of course, faster delivery. I think it is a great insight. While change is rapid and constant, it also helps to focus and build on what will not change.
I have no intention of building a business. Nevertheless, I can use that insight to take an initiative to people. Amidst all the change that has happened over centuries, one thing that has not changed is the innate desire of people to get better. Most people in the world want to get ahead in competition with others. And there are also a good number of people who are competing with themselves. They just want to be a better version of themselves as compared to yesterday or last week or last year. Either way, it is about improvement and growth.
Personal (or even organisational) growth happens with the acquisition of a capability or competence and its application. Acquiring and application of competence involves understanding the context, learning, staying relevant, and adding value on a continuous basis. All these tasks are getting increasingly harder in an era of information overload as well as misinformation. This website is a small attempt to help people stay the course, understand better, learn and grow. I am starting off with a collection of blogs (titled Perspectives). I promise to make the content more richer and meaningful over time.
Topics covered are of current interest (whenever they were written) ranging from competitiveness, impact of Technology on people, taking learnings from one field and exploring how it can be applied in another field, self exploration, motivating (self and others), influencing others, etc. I sincerely hope that the contents help the readers in their pursuit of getting better.
